Wasteland Pilot Beside a Downed Plane

a grizzled pilot, mid-40s, slumped on a jagged outcrop in a windswept wasteland, his orange-and-white flight suit streaked with oil and dust, tactical webbing straining across his chest as he takes a long drag from a cigarette—the ember glowing against the muted haze. His aviators reflect the distant, skeletal remains of his downed plane, its fuselage cracked open like a carcass, one propeller blade buried in the dirt beside his scuffed boots. A modified revolver dangles loosely in his grip, its cylinder popped open—three spent shells gleaming among the remaining three. Behind him, the wreck smolders, tendrils of smoke curling into a sickly yellow sky, while on the horizon, the jagged spires of a cyberpunk megalopolis pierce the clouds, their neon haze just visible through the particulate-choked air. His helmet, visor spiderwebbed from impact, lies discarded near a crumpled map half-buried in the dust, its edges fluttering in the dry wind. Every detail—from the frayed stitching on his shoulder patches to the way his jaw tenses around the cigarette—hints at a man who’s just survived something *terminal*, now weighing the cost in the eerie silence of aftermath.
