Candy children gather for trick-or-treating on a pointillist porch

A 19th-century pointillist drawing, in the style of Monet and Signac, depicting a "trick-or-treat" scene on a porch. Composed of millions of tiny dots of pure color, the drawing shows three anthropomorphic children—each fashioned entirely from various Halloween treats—standing on a decorated porch in front of an open doorway. On the left, a figure formed from orange and black candies features small, sugary eyes and a mouth; it holds two small treat bags made from candy wrappers. In the center, a taller, mummy-like figure is wrapped in strips resembling fruit leather, its body composed of gummy worms, candy-coated drops, and other confections, with gummy worms forming a visible head of hair; it retains a pair of glowing red eyes. To the right stands a character made of purple and green candies, wearing a purple witch’s hat and carrying a bag fashioned from candy wrappers. On the far left, an elderly woman—her face and dress defined by delicate patterns of dots—extends a large bowl filled with treats from the warmly lit entryway. The doorway is adorned with a "BOO!" wreath (rendered in orange and yellow dots), pumpkins, and a "WELCOME" doormat (featuring a pattern of purple and orange dots). The surrounding setting is also rendered in the pointillist style, with a starry night sky and a moon (composed of yellow and blue dots) overlooking a street lined with decorated houses—all constructed from fields of dots. The children are rendered with precision and rich detail, each clearly built from a wide variety of colored dots representing the individual treats. The texture of pointillism is palpable, creating a luminous and vibrant atmosphere through optical mixing.
