Patroclus put upon him the glorious armor of the son of Peleus. First he set about his legs the beautiful greaves fitted with silver ankle-clasps. Next he donned about his chest the corselet of the swift-footed son of Aeacus, richly wrought and starred. About his shoulders he slung the bronze-studded silver sword, and thereafter the great and mighty shield. Upon his strong head he set the well-fashioned helmet with its horsehair crest, and terribly the plume nodded from above. Then he took two stout spears that fitted his grasp.
