Portrait d’un garçon tenant un livre dans un château médiéval

This is a full-length oil portrait of a medieval boy, aged five or six, painted in the Renaissance style. The composition employs traditional portraiture techniques. A young boy of about five—who has dwarfism—stands at the right edge of the image, visibly set apart. He has wavy, sandy-brown hair and a sad expression. He is of stocky build and short stature. He wears a rich, dark-red velvet tunic with a distinctive texture and bright red velvet sleeves, paired with matching black breeches and a dark leather belt. His attire is adorned with ornate gold buttons. He holds a book in his hand. The setting is a magnificent room within a medieval castle, featuring an elaborately carved fireplace in the background. The painting exhibits a classical style, characterized by visible brushstrokes that follow the contours of the face and a softening effect between areas of light and shadow.
