A melancholic mermaid seated beside a misty forest lake

A hauntingly beautiful, gaunt mermaid with long, wispy grey hair and pointed elven ears sits on a mossy rock at the edge of a tranquil, misty lake. Her lower body is covered in dark, iridescent scales that transition into a slender, humanoid form. She wears a simple, teal bikini top and a braided rope belt adorned with a single, golden pendant. Her skin is pale and her expression is melancholic, with downcast eyes. Her feet are delicate and poised just above the water, with some lily pads and floating flowers nearby. The environment is an ancient, misty forest, with dense pine trees forming a dark, mysterious backdrop. The water of the lake is still, reflecting the muted tones of the forest and the heavy fog that hangs in the air. The time of day appears to be early morning or late evening, with soft, diffused light filtering through the mist. The art style is hyperrealistic fantasy, with a focus on detail and atmosphere. The color palette is dominated by cool, muted greens, blues, and grays, creating a somber and ethereal mood. The lighting is low-key and atmospheric, emphasizing the mist and reflections. The composition is a medium shot, focusing on the mermaid and her immediate surroundings, with the vast, misty forest receding into the background. The perspective is slightly low-angle, giving the mermaid a slightly majestic presence. There is a shallow depth of field, with the mermaid and the rock in sharp focus, while the background forest is softly blurred by the mist. The image quality is high, with a painterly yet detailed aesthetic. The overall mood is one of solitude, mystery, and ethereal beauty, reminiscent of dark fantasy art.
