A bound witch leans toward a skeleton’s candle beneath a dark tree

A dark fantasy illustration shows a witch bound to a tree, leaning toward a candle held by a skeleton as a hazy, twilight-like village recedes behind them. The composition is vertical and tightly framed around the two figures. The witch occupies the left side, tied against a thick tree trunk, while the skeleton sits or kneels at the lower right and raises a long arm to present a small flame between them. Their faces angle toward the candle, creating a quiet moment of contact amid the ominous surroundings. The tree forms a strong vertical anchor, and the candle’s warm point of light draws attention to the space between the figures. The witch has long, tousled dark hair beneath a broad, crooked black hat with a small buckle. Her tattered dark clothing leaves her shoulders and legs partly exposed, and thick ropes wrap around her torso and lower legs to hold her against the trunk. She bends forward with a weary, intent expression, a thin object resting at her lips. The skeletal figure is composed of weathered bones, with its skull turned toward her and one arm extended to hold the candle upright. The image is a highly detailed digital fantasy illustration, rendered with realistic textures and painterly shading. Rough bark, frayed fabric, tangled rope, and aged bone are carefully distinguished, while the subdued colors and dramatic subject matter evoke gothic fantasy. Behind the figures, a muted gray sky and distant rooftops suggest a village in the background. Soft, diffuse ambient light keeps the scene dim, contrasted by the candle’s warm glow on the skeleton and the witch’s face. This restrained lighting, along with the misty backdrop and stark tree, creates a somber, eerie atmosphere.
